School Council discuss the issues that matter to students

In the last week of term, the theatre was buzzing as the School Council came together to discuss current issues which matter to our students. The agenda of each meeting is decided following feedback from class meetings and Year Council meetings.

This time, topics under discussion included the use of praise/behaviour points, additional revision opportunities in Y11, assessment roadmaps for each term, exam practice questions in Y10, A Level taster sessions and safety on the stairs at lesson changeover time. As always, students engaged in lively debate and shared their ideas and opinions with enthusiasm.

Student Voice is a vital part of the Vandyke experience; it empowers students and helps them to understand that their opinions matter, they can influence change and they are part of an inclusive community. We’ll be making changes as a direct result of this meeting, and look forward to coming together again at the end of next term.
