STEMx by Oracle Red Bull Racing visit Vandyke

Last month, 35 Year 9 students had the opportunity to work with members of the STEMx by Oracle Red Bull Racing team here at Vandyke. The students were put through their pit crew paces, literally – F1 style post-race interviews, coding remote control cars round famous F1 circuits, designing team liveries and getting dirty while changing real F1 tyres.

The final (and favourite) activity of the day saw students racing their car designs down a track in the sports hall – a race won by reaction time as the lights went out, they were all over within three seconds! Every single student enjoyed themselves, some even more than they thought they would. Who knows, we could have some Vandyke students in F1 sooner then we think!
