Y11 visit to Wadham College, Oxford
Y11 visit to Wadham College, University of Oxford
Last month, fifteen Year 11 students, all with aspirations of attending university, ventured to Oxford and specifically Wadham College of Oxford University. Our group went with the purpose to discover what life would be like studying at one of the most prestigious universities in the world – a real eye-opener and goal setter for them all!
Our day included a talk about what university life is like and a STEM taster session, which involved completing a chemistry-based escape room. After lunch, we had a private tour of Wadham College and our day concluded with an insightful and hands-on visit to the Natural History Museum. The opportunity to hold Madagascar hissing cockroaches will not be forgotten quickly by those brave enough – Mr Winter only had to step in once to hold one particularly active male!
The students were fantastic throughout the day, perfectly behaved and persistently curious about what life at university could offer them. The students were such a credit to the school that we have been offered a significant increase in places for current Year 10s to attend this special day next year!
