Sixth Form students network with local employers
Sixth Form students network with local employers
Written by Evie L, Y12 student
Last month, Miss Davies organised a brilliant networking event to enable Y12 and Y13 to meet a variety of employers and get a brief insight of what they do and how they got into the career that they are all currently in. This event was extremely helpful as it was a more informal way of getting to know different people and hear their top tips to pursue a career in the fields we are hoping for.
I am hoping to pursue a career in Law, and one of the solicitors who visited was offering work experience at the firm she works for, to gain an understanding of what her day looks like as a criminal lawyer. Everyone I had the chance to speak to was very engaging and gave great advice to our queries and questions, helping us get a clearer picture of what things were going to look like after we have qualified in our desired profession.
Employers who attended included: Howden Group, JP Morgan, Mercedes, Branded, the Hill Group, Taskspace Interiors, Connells, Osborne Morris & Morgan, and CDMK. We had Directors and Entrepreneurs of large companies, a TV Executive producer, a Marketing Director, a local media company and a landscaper. Our next Sixth form event in Spring will feature strong Vandyke alumni, from a variety of career paths and organisations.
