Seussical The Musical
Seussical The Musical
The world of Doctor Seuss was brought to life in the Vandyke Theatre at the end of last term. The full scale musical production was a triumph with two sold out performances.
Students from years 9 – 13 worked together to perform an incredible production with almost non-stop dancing, superb singing and amazing acting. Rehearsals were held weekly in the Autumn term culminating in a colourful, joyful narrative with the Whos and the jungle characters leading the story forward.
Our audiences were transported from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, with the Cat in the Hat (played by Charlotte S) and Thing 1 & 2 (Beatrice and Florence W) narrating the story of Horton the Elephant (Robin S), who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos (led by Fran P, Stanley R and Scarlett M).
Horton protects the Whos from a world of danger, while also guarding an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Eva H). As Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz (Amelia GF) never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant!
Lighting by James Dempsey enhanced the spectacular performance produced by Miss Green, Miss Doe, Miss Beckwith and Mrs Allsopp. Huge congratulations to everyone involved – we can’t wait for next year’s production!
