PE: A Year in Review, 2024-25
PE: A Year in Review, 2024-25
As we approach the final weeks of term, it feels like the perfect time to reflect on what has been a fantastic year for PE at Vandyke.
We are proud to hold the School Games Platinum Mark Award, recognising the breadth and quality of opportunities our PE team provides. This year, we have taken part in every District-level event, with many of our teams progressing to County and Regional finals—a real testament to our students’ talent and commitment.
While competitive sport is a valued part of school life, our core mission remains encouraging lifelong participation in physical activity and supporting student well-being. A great example of this has been our inclusive Invictus activities, designed to engage a wider range of students. We’re excited to continue developing this important part of our provision.
Our strong links with the local community also continue to grow. We’re proud to support satellite clubs across a variety of sports, offering even more opportunities for our students. One highlight has been our ongoing partnership with Linslade Galaxy Girls FC, who now regularly use our excellent grass pitches. With the help of a significant grant from the Football Foundation, we’re planning further improvements to our playing fields over the summer.
Extra-curricular sport remains a real strength, and we’re committed to offering a wide variety of inclusive, accessible clubs—no experience necessary! Please encourage your child to get involved and try something new when we return.
Our House Competition structure has also gone from strength to strength. Intra-school tournaments at the end of each activity block give every student the chance to contribute points to their House and take pride in representing their team.
Looking ahead, if you or your business could support us through donations of equipment, team kits, or sponsorship, we’d love to hear from you. Please email me at [email protected] to find out more.
Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the entire PE team and extended Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership (LLSSP) team for their passion, energy, and tireless commitment. The opportunities they’ve provided for students this year have been second to none.
We are very much looking forward to the final weeks of term that also includes our Sport Festival Day where the whole school will be moving!
Thanks all for your support this year. We appreciate the many notes and messages we have received – they mean a great deal to us.
