Y10 Boys' Football team crowned District Cup Champions
A huge congratulations to the Y10 boys' football team for their exceptional performance in the District Cup Final this term.
The final saw Vandyke take on a strong Manshead Academy side, who have always been tough opponents in the past. This match was no different, with both teams battling hard and the game ultimately going to penalties after a dramatic draw in regular time.
The boys gave it their all, showing determination and skill throughout. Reg K delivered two outstanding goals to keep Vandyke in the game, but Manshead continued to fight back, resulting in a tense finish and a score of 2-2 at full time.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, it was goalkeeper Connor B who stepped up with heroic saves to give Vandyke the edge. Alex L calmly slotted home the winning penalty, sparking celebrations as the District Cup returned to Vandyke! The final score after penalties was 5-4, and player of the match was Reg K.
Well done to all involved – your hard work, teamwork, and resilience truly paid off. Champions!

Hickstead National Equestrian Finals
An all girl equestrian team from Vandyke recently attended the Hickstead finals having qualified for both the 80cm and 90cm showjumping competitions. Two tough courses awaited the teams in some tricky, windy conditions. Undeterred, our team rode brilliantly and represented our school magnificently.
Evie had also qualified for the individual dressage finals and achieved an amazing 2nd place, which is a wonderful achievement. Congratulations to all.
If you currently ride, we would love to hear from you. Please see Mr Turney for more details of how you can get involved in next year’s competitions.

Sam helps MK Storm to victory
Congratulations to Sam R (Y11), who was part of the MK Storm U16 squad when they won the Division 2 National Championship in Sheffield last weekend, making them the best Division 2 team in the country!
It’s been a great season for the team, as last month they also won the Southern League and went on to beat Widnes (Northern League winners) in a nail biting national final. The game went to extra time, with the winning goal scored in just 29 seconds! Well done, Sam.

Vandyke U15 Girls’ Football team crowned champions
Vandyke 4 - 3 Cedars
In the final of the U15 South Beds & Luton District Cup, Vandyke U15 girls were crowned champions in a close encounter against Cedars.
The girls started brilliantly, scoring after just 11 seconds, however the game went back and forward until Ava H scored what was to be the winner when she headed home from a Jess S corner.
The girls had previously lost to Cedars in the league stages of the competition, however they turned this around and produced some great football to deservedly win the game. Well played all, and congratulations to Player of the Match, Isla O.

Saul represents Bedfordshire
Congratulations to Saul D, who represented Bedfordshire as part of the Northampton Saints Foundation Academy on 11th May. Bedfordshire played a series of games at Shelford RFC against other sides representing Bucks; Hunts, Peterborough & Cambs; Northants; and Suffolk & North-East Essex. Despite the 24 degree heat, the games were played "the Saint's way", at a very fast pace. All those involved finished the day with smiles on their faces.

U14 Girls in Bedfordshire Schools County Cup Final
It was not to be for our U14 girls, as they took on a strong Redborne School in the Bedfordshire Schools County Cup Final. The game was played at Leighton United FC, and the girls battled bravely throughout.
Our consolation goal was scored through the boot of Nieve, and our Player of the Match, as selected by our opponents, was Isla. We are really proud of them for reaching the final and being the second best team in the County! Well played all – you’ve had a great season!
