Year 9 Options Evening
6pm – 8pm, Thursday 6th February 2025
We warmly invite all Year 9 students and their parents/carers to join us for our Year 9 Options Evening on Thursday 6th February. We hope the evening will provide students with lots of information and guidance relating to the choices you are about to make regarding your GCSE subjects.
At present, the National Curriculum prescribes much of your timetable; however, you have now reached the point in your education where you are able to select some of the subjects you wish to study at GCSE level.
The choices that you make now are important and could affect your future opportunities including access to A-Level courses in the Sixth Form that will take you on to university. We advise you to choose a well-balanced programme of study at Key Stage 4 so that you can keep your options open for the future. This will give you greater choice as you go into post-16 courses or into work.
Making the right choices is not easy but with some thought and advice, the process is much more straightforward.
At the Options Evening, students will be given a copy of the 2025 Options Booklet. This booklet will provide you with information on all the various subject areas; use this booklet and talk to your parents/carers, teachers and others who can help you come to the right decisions about the next stage of your education. Research online and listen to the information given out in assemblies and lessons, and you will be able to make an informed decision for your future.
Details of how to choose your options will be shared at the Options Evening and are included in the booklet. The Options deadline is Friday 28th February.
We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 6th February, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions about the Options process or the choices you are making.
