Vandyke achieves Platinum success for second year in a row

We are delighted to announce that Vandyke has achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year. A second year running!

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools for their commitment to the development of competitive sport both within school and across the wider community. We are extremely proud to have been recognised for our continued success and dedication to school sport.

This year has seen a host of sporting achievements across a wide range of activities and age groups. Our students have enjoyed success in numerous local, county and regional competitions, while our Sports Leaders have played a significant role in supporting School Games events across many local schools.

Vandyke has a rich tradition of sporting excellence and we continually strive to provide opportunities for students to participate and compete in as many sporting disciplines as possible. This year high numbers of students have had the opportunity to represent the school or take part in local inter-school competitions and then progress this as to countywide and regional events.

We are incredibly proud of our students whose commitment, enthusiasm and sportsmanship consistently reflect the values of our school. We would also like to recognise those who volunteer their time to support school sport, including our Sports Leaders, officials and event helpers, whose contributions help make these opportunities possible.

As part of the School Games Mark application process, schools are assessed across four key areas: participation, competition, workforce and clubs. We are delighted that the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and wider school community have been recognised through this prestigious award.

A special thank you must go to the PE Department for their continued commitment, enthusiasm and countless hours spent supporting both curricular and extra-curricular sport. Achievements such as this would not be possible without their dedication and the positive impact they have on our school community.

We look forward to building on this success and continuing to provide outstanding sporting opportunities for all students.
