Y13 Law students excel in Family Law Competition
Three of our most talented advocates from the Y13 A Level Law cohort spent their Saturday competing against other schools in a Family Law competition, hosted by a Circuit Judge and magistrates. The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire was also in attendance to watch.
The day was made up of ‘heats’ between the schools, with all students presenting in front of the legal professionals, and often being tested to think on their feet with rigorous questioning. The students did absolutely brilliantly, both in presenting their clients’ cases really clearly (utilising law that is not required on the A Level), and also in their quick thinking to respond to the questions.
We came away with the certificate for second place overall. Darcy T received an individual certificate for ‘outstanding advocacy’, as recommended by the Circuit Judge. The Y12 students who came to observe are excited to take part next year, and it was a great experience for the Y13 students to take forward in their chosen legal paths.
