Girls in Construction event with Willmott Dixon

Our partnership with construction firm Willmott Dixon has enabled us to offer various events to our students during the school day. We recently welcomed them to school to deliver a special ‘Girls in Construction’ event. Being able to showcase to female students the many varied careers within the construction industry was enlightening for many of the audience.

Wilmott Dixon are the firm behind the new Leighton Linslade Leisure Centre, and over 100 girls signed up for the event. The students heard from female employees of the firm, including an architect, staff from the marketing and communications teams, and an electrician who is currently working on our new leisure centre.  The presenters were very open with our students and talked about their journeys into their current careers.

Many of the girls commented that they had previously viewed construction as purely trade roles and hadn’t thought about looking at the construction industry as a potential career pathway.

We’re grateful to the Willmott Dixon team for giving up their time, and we continue to nurture strong links with local employers to assist young people with their long term aspirations.
