Could you be a Governor at Vandyke Upper School?
Could you be a Governor at Vandyke Upper School?
We are pleased to announce we are now inviting applications from parents and carers of our current students to fill a vacancy for a Parent Governor on Vandyke Upper School’s Governing Body. This is a crucial voluntary role that contributes significantly to the strategic direction and overall effectiveness of our school.
Governors are responsible for setting the school’s strategic vision, ensuring financial accountability, and monitoring performance standards across all areas of school life. It is a highly rewarding opportunity to work alongside the school staff and other Governors in ensuring that our students at Vandyke receive the best possible education and wellbeing support so that they flourish into ‘World Ready’ young adults. For further details about the role of a governor, please see the Governance area of our website.
All parents and carers of current students at Vandyke are eligible to apply. While professional skills in areas like finance, HR or education are beneficial, commitment, curiosity, and a willingness to dedicate time to meetings and training are the most essential attributes.
Training is provided and support is available from other members of the board to enable new governors to get up to speed.
If you are interested in learning more or applying, please contact the Clerk to the Governors, Jo Sessions, via email at [email protected] or call 01525 636723.
The deadline for submitting completed applications for the role is Tuesday 2nd December. If the number of applications exceeds the vacancy, an election will be formally conducted.
And if you’re not a current parent/carer but would still be interested in joining Vandyke’s governing body, we also have a vacancy for a Community Governor. If you would like to find out more, please contact the Clerk to the Governors, Jo Sessions, via email at [email protected] or call 01525 636723.
