Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th March marked our very first live music performance evenings since March 2020; a truly joyful reminder of how good it feels to celebrate our students’ musical achievements.

The students in 11/A and 11/C had been preparing for the performance since January this year, creating plans based on a brief provided by the exam board, which was then applied through regular rehearsals of their repertoire in preparation to perform on stage. For the majority, this was the first performance opportunity they had experienced since beginning their GCSEs, so many felt a healthy mixture of excitement and apprehension about performing their rehearsed material to a live audience.

Both evenings saw a busy school theatre with friends and family who had turned out to show their support – there was even some audience participation, where students asked them to scan QR codes and provide feedback using a Google form!

As well as accomplished performances from all involved, a highlight was the camaraderie amongst the students in both classes, who were often the first to cheer, clap, or wave their arms in admiration of their peers on stage.

Myself and Miss Beckwith would like to congratulate all involved and pass on our thanks to everyone who supported. It is heart warming to hear music spilling from our school theatre once again.
