Y12 students visit Collins Aerospace
Six Y12 aspiring engineers had the golden opportunity to visit Collins Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard for a day. The visit was packed with meaningful time spent with employees, ranging from apprentices and managers to directors, across various parts of the organisation.
Students were able to tour the many areas of work from manufacturing to product-end testing, and the afternoon gave the students the opportunity to ask questions of leaders via Q&A panels. This was a great experience for them, not only to build confidence, but also to find information out about career routes, work experience and day-to-day life as an engineer or leader.
The advice was clear and invaluable; there are many routes into the industry, and students should take time to research these, whilst also taking advantage of any opportunities that come their way. Demonstrating interest in an area authentically is absolutely key to success in securing that very first placement or role.
