Course entry requirements: General BTEC requirements including two grade 5s at GCSE in Triple Science (one in Biology) or combined Science (Trilogy) AND a grade 5 in Maths and a grade 5 in English.
Course description
Mandatory units: (All units must be completed)
Unit 1: Principles of Applied Human Biology (Exam)
Unit 2: Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (Coursework)
Unit 3: Human Biology and Health Issues (Exam)
Optional units: (One unit must be completed)
Unit 4: Functional physiology
Examination
Two of the mandatory units will be assessed through written examinations. Your first unit examination will take place in year 1 and your second unit in year 2.
Coursework
Two units are coursework based and will be internally assessed. This will be completed during lessons and as homework. You will be expected to carry out most of your written coursework in your independent study time.
Meeting deadlines is a vital part of the course.
