Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award Assessed Expedition
Congratulations to the 36 Year 11 students who braved the challenging conditions in the White Peaks during their 3-day Qualifying Expedition.
Day one was particularly wet, yet the students remained positive and completed routes with minimal navigational errors.
Having travelled up to the Staffordshire Peak District in the morning, it was also a long day with some teams getting into the campsite at gone 7pm. A chilly night followed but teams rallied round and demonstrated excellent campcraft skills and were soon on their way for a second day of walking.
A highlight for some was going over the Roaches before descending for a second night of camping at the busy Gradbach Scout camp. Despite tiredness setting in, all teams were up and on their way by 8.15am on the final day of walking. On completion in Buxton, students enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream and celebrated a very successful expedition!
A big thank you to a wonderful staff team who oversaw proceedings – Mrs Green, Miss Gransden, Mark Workman and Louie Jones.
