School Sports Partnership receives a huge investment from the David Parry Trust
Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership based at Vandyke, has received an investment to support its future, from the local charity; ‘The David Parry Memorial fund.’
The fund was set up by ex-Brooklands Headteacher, Paul Harris. The charity was started in remembrance of David Parry, a student of Brooklands School, who died in a tragic accident. Its aim was to provide support for students across the town to attend extracurricular opportunities.
In recent years Ann Swaby, (wife of Paul Harris and former Head of Brooklands,) has had trustee status of the funds and wanted to see the monies being used more regularly, and across the whole school community.
Granddaughter of Ann and teacher at Linslade Academy, Emily Yirrell, suggested donating the funds to the Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership. “I have either worked for, or with the partnership for over 12 years, and have seen first-hand the impact the Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership has on schools and individuals across Leighton Buzzard and surrounding villages. It seems a wonderful way for my Grandmother to carry on giving back to the community in memory of David Parry and Paul Harris.”
Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership’s Development manager, Stewart Seymour, has expressed his sincere gratitude; “This funding will make such a difference for the opportunities and initiatives the partnership can provide to the young”.
