Long Jump Success For Thaila
Long Jump Success For Thaila
On 30th June, Year 10 student Thaila Mason competed in the English Schools athletics championships. This is a national competition which young athletes across the country strive towards throughout the athletics season.
After achieving the qualifying standard for long jump, Thaila was selected to represent Bedfordshire at the championships.
In the competition, Thaila jumped a new PB in round 2 to place her in the top six competitors in the field, gaining her three additional jumps. In round 5, Thaila added to her PB, jumping 5.59m, boosting her up to 2nd place where she finished the competition.
By finishing in the top 2 of her event, Thaila not only earned herself a silver medal, but also secured her place on the England team! We wish Thaila the best of luck in her first international fixture in Scotland on the 15th July.
