Her Honour Judge Bloom at Vandyke
Year 12 law students were lucky enough to attend a talk at school by an established Circuit Judge, Tracey Bloom. Tracey sits as a Resident Judge in Luton, hearing appeals from first instance cases decided by District judges. She is so very down to earth and made sure to emphasise the ability to pursue a legal career, including one within the Judiciary, if desired.
Tracey started her career as a newly qualified barrister, setting up her own Chambers of practice with friends above a wine bar. She can count Cherie Blair and Amal Clooney as previous co-workers, and has been instructed in some of the most notable cases.
Students were provided with a realistic view of the challenges and competitiveness of entering the profession, and were offered opportunity of shadowing.
Some of the students, Alexandra Woolf, Emily Scott and Joshua Hill were also able to try on some attire. They commented on how comfortable it was!
