Hello Yellow at Vandyke, for World Mental Health Day
Our Sixth Form students marked World Mental Health day on Friday October 9th by wearing yellow, in aid of raising money for the charity ‘Young Minds’. The day felt uplifting, with many choosing to dress head to toe in yellow, others wore wristbands and stickers to mark the day.
The Senior Student Team had raised awareness for this cause by leading on enrichment activities across the Sixth Form through the use of mental health case studies. They also recorded an assembly for the rest of the School. Vibrant posters and balloons were displayed through the Sixth Form Centre, which added to the buzz and excitement. A survey was completed by Sixth Form students which produced reassuring results where students anonymously remarked that they felt able to recognise symptoms of stress and anxiety, and many felt able to talk to others about how they were feeling.
Well done to all those who participated and donated a minimum of £1.00 to the cause. In total, the Sixth Form raised just shy of £270.00, all of which will go to this worthwhile charity and beats our amount from last year!
