Helen’s amazing success in the London Marathon
On Sunday 28th April I competed in the London Marathon, having gained a Championship Entry for running the MK winter half marathon sub 1:30.
Following such wonderfully warm and sunny weather over the Easter weekend, I was very relieved to wake to a cool and dry day; perfect conditions for runners. Fuelled by Lucozade and Jelly Babies, I made my way around the iconic course with a goal of going sub 3:30. The streets were alive with supporters, music and entertainers; crowds were 8-10 people deep in key places and a terrific atmosphere prevailed. Without a doubt this helped carry me through, especially between miles 15-20 which I found the toughest.
On running the final few miles I was able to pick up the pace to finish strong, and I was delighted to complete 26.2 miles in 03:15:03.
A big thank you to everyone for your support!
