Year 11 student, Georgi Issott, came an amazing 4th in the World Tumbling Championships in December.

The 2019 Trampoline Gymnastic World Championships took place at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre, the same venue that will host the gymnastics competitions at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Georgi thanked everyone for helping her get to the World Tumbling Championships in Tokyo. Tumbling is not an Olympic sport so Georgi got no funding but thanks to a community crowdfunding effort, boosted by appearing in the news and on radio, Georgi was able to travel to Tokyo. Georgi’s Mum added, “We just want to say thank you to everyone who donated, she was overwhelmed and she was amazing, and getting there was thanks to the generosity of the public”.

Georgi, who trains at the Harlequin Gym in Leighton Buzzard, is now hoping to compete at the European Championships in May.

Mr Turney, Team Leader of PE said “Well done Georgi! We are all extremely proud of this wonderful achievement! 4th in the WORLD! Wow!”
