A-Level Psychology students study brains in the lab
New Y13 psychology students were in the science labs recently, dissecting brains! Students have covered two main topics in the last academic year – biopsychology and memory. Dissecting the brains helped them to learn about the structure/function of different areas of the brain, and learn about various brain functions including fight or flight response, endocrinology and the storage of short- and long-term memory.
Most students approached the task with great enthusiasm – although some were less keen! But this was an invaluable hands-on experience, which has enabled students to identify the relevant lobes, areas, or cortexes in the brain that perform specific roles.
