Year 10 students attend ‘Engineering Your Future’ event
On Wednesday 16th October a group of Year 10 students attended the ‘Engineering your Future’ event with MKBiztech, an event which provides an insight into engineering careers for young people.
The students heard from a number of engineering companies, including McLaren, Niftylift, SMC, Starship and more, and were able to interview working engineers from a large variety of organisations regarding the working life of engineers and routes into engineering. They also heard from three universities, including the new MK:University which will open in 2023, about available engineering courses, apprenticeships and degrees. Students particularly enjoyed the opportunity to interact with some of the engineering projects companies have been working on such as a moon rover, some virtual reality software and robotics.
The event was a great success, with a number of students expressing a better understanding of what engineering entails as well as a greater enthusiasm for how they can apply themselves to engineering problems of the future.
