World Book Day
Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day and the Vandyke English team embraced the day by dressing up as their favourite characters from texts that they teach.
Characters from Macbeth, Lord of the Flies and poems about power and conflict could be seen floating through the corridors of the English block much to the amusement and enthusiasm of the students. Mr Taylor, who incongruously had come dressed as Rupert the Bear, said: “It was a great day that reminded us all of the vital importance that books and literature play in our lives. It allows us a brilliant opportunity to escape into our own world and reflect upon the stories that have shaped our lives.”
Tutors and students were able to take part in a range of activities including a quiz that allowed students to demonstrate their vast knowledge of literature. Head over to the Vandyke English Instagram account (@VandykeEnglish) to see how the day unfolded.
