Senior Citizens' Christmas Party

Sixth Form students at Vandyke Upper School offered some much appreciated festive cheer last term, when they put on a Christmas party for some of Leighton Buzzard’s senior citizens, at what has become a much-enjoyed annual tradition at the school.

A team of volunteers from Years 12 and 13 welcomed over 30 pensioners from two local sheltered housing units, Laburnam Court and Hamilton Court, to the Sixth Form common room on Wednesday 14th December.  As well  as a lavish buffet tea, guests were treated to live musical performances, carol singing, bingo and a quiz.

As ever the atmosphere was  fantastic and a good time was had by all’ said Mr Downey, Director of Sixth Form. ‘Students are aware that this can be a lonely time of year for some older members of the community, and really enjoy the chance to offer them an afternoon of fun and good company. It’s always rewarding  – they get as much out of it as the guests do.’
