Design Technology Showcase Students' work

On Thursday 22nd September we held our annual open evening for parents of Year 8 students moving to upper school next year. The Design Technology department once again put on a display of the work carried out by students from Year 9 to Year 13 over the past year.

The evening was extremely well attended and we were kept busy all evening with many curious young people and even more curious parents and carers. The laser causing its usual stir making  hundreds of this year’s student designed Vandyke special edition key rings.  But the most talked about part of the evening were our two 3D printers. This new technology has been seen by very few students and parents and  most were amazed by the process.

These photographs show examples of Year 11 Lighting GCSE, Year 12 Chair designs, Makerbot 3D Printers, Keech Hospice project and Year 13 A* grade complete working wooden pendulum clocks.

A special mention and a huge thank you should be given to all the fantastic students who gave up their time to discuss their work with our visitors.
