Councillor Steve Dixon visits Vandyke

Councillor Steve Dixon, who is executive member on Central Bedfordshire Council for Education and Skills, visited Vandyke on 8th November. He toured the school, met students and staff and enjoyed an assembly. The assembly was about Remembrance, ahead of the school’s minute’s silence on Friday.

Councillor Dixon then met with Mr Carroll to discuss Vandyke’s plans to join with our partner middle schools in a multi-academy trust (MAT). Central Bedfordshire Council is fully supportive of the plans and has expressed this view to the office of the Regional Schools Commissioner, where the decision to proceed with the MAT will be made.  “These are just the kind of local solutions that we support”, said Councillor Dixon.  “I have thoroughly enjoyed my visit and been impressed by the working atmosphere across the school.”
