Oxford Trip

118 Year 11 students took to Oxford over 3 days recently to complete their controlled assessment for Geography. The day required students to travel to various wards within Oxford to carry out primary fieldwork to test the hypothesis “Deprivation decreases with distance from the city centre”.

The investigations included an environmental quality survey, housing surveys,  photographs and questionnaires.

The weather was interchangeable between the 3 days but all groups managed to successfully complete their fieldwork booklets and now look forward to doing a full analysis of the work.

Controlled assessment is currently worth 25% of their  total GCSE and Geography have historically achieved very high marks in these investigations. The detailed information attained this year will be invaluable to them once again achieving outstanding controlled assessment.
