Vandyke Art Exhibition at Leighton Buzzard Library

As part of the ‘Year of the Arts’ celebration, the Art Department was invited to put up an exhibition of work in the Leighton Buzzard Library. The work on display there is from our Year 9 to Year 13 students.

The work exhibited has been selected to display some of the very broad range of media students can use at GCSE and A level in Art and Design. As well as the obvious drawing and painting, students can produce 3D work, photography, ICT and animation, printmaking and textiles.

The Year of the Arts was launched in April of last year and finishes this July. Some of the schools in Central Bedfordshire work together as local clusters or communities. Learning Community 2 schools (LC2) are in Leighton Buzzard, Woburn and the surrounding villages. We are comprised of two upper schools, five middle schools and nineteen lower schools and one school with children with special needs. LC2 regularly meet to discuss key issues, facilitate training and encourage co-operative working across the three tiers of schools.

A whole host of creative and artistic events have been planned throughout this year, a schedule of library displays being just one of them. Our exhibition is on until the end of April.

One of the highlights of Vandyke’s summer term is our annual summer exhibition. It is a lively and diverse exhibition showcasing the talents of students with a wide range of work on display in response to coursework and exam themes. This year it is on 22nd June from 5pm. Please feel free to come along to see more of the work produced by our talented students.
