Christmas Hampers

Christmas Hampers

Once again Vandyke students helped to spread festive cheer just before the Christmas break. Members of the Year 9 and 10 Student Voice groups visited residents at  Laburnum Court Sheltered Housing and Swiss Cottage Nursing Home taking plants, crafts and sweets. The most important part of the visits were the conversations between the residents and students. The students loved chatting away about school, hobbies and Christmas to the elderly. Rita Richardson, the warden of Laburnum Court, complimented the students on their wonderful attitude and communication skills - the students really did brilliantly and wished they could have stayed longer.

The group also filled the Mini Bus with hampers full of food items, gifts and toys donated by students and staff and   delivered them to The Leighton-Linslade Homeless Service. Each tutor group filled a box with contributions and the organisers at the Homeless Service were very pleased by the generosity shown - a fantastic effort all round!
