Work Experience at Allen and Overy LLP

Two Year 13 Law students, Stephanie Dawson and Kyle Gallagher, were invited out of 470 applicants to attend an assessment day at Allen and Overy LLP.

190 students gathered on 30th June 2015 and were placed in teams competing to win a week’s work experience with the prestigious law firm. During the day, Steph and Kyle, who were placed in separate groups, were given a task based around creating a political party. The task was very demanding and required team work skills but also leadership when necessary. Both students displayed these skills and made their law teacher very proud! All groups in their political parties presented their manifesto and broadcast. Kyle did a very impressive rap!

At the end of a long demanding day, the students all gathered round to hear who had been successful in gaining a place on the firm’s work experience programme with a business e-mentor for a year. The place also potentially means long term securing further work experience in the form of a vacation placement and training contract to become a solicitor.

Steph and Kyle were both selected; they have both done exceptionally well to beat a large number of students to securing such a wonderful opportunity.
