World Book Day

World Book Day

Vandyke celebrated World Book Day in style this year, when the English department raided the dressing up box to come to school dressed as some of their favourite book characters.

Students were utterly terrified by a very scary looking Miss Peplow, who came as The Woman in Black, and head of department Mrs Green made a very tragic and mysterious Miss Havisham.   English teachers, Miss Murray (Peter Pan), Miss Symington (Alice in Wonderland) and Mrs Page (Where’s Wally) also entered into the spirit of things.

Celebrations continued in the library, where Hermione Granger (Miss James) and students    created a book graffiti wall, decorating a display with drawings and some of their favourite book quotes. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and commented on how nice it was to see and share how different books have inspired their peers.
