Vandyke welcomes Young Apprentice of the Year 2014

The Young Apprentice of the Year 2014 was a  special guest to the school on Thursday 29th January.  Bobby Duff, 17, from Leighton Buzzard won the award for his work at BCS Ltd, a Leighton Buzzard company.  He was just one of the many stall holders at the careers event which ran alongside the Year 9 Options evening

The Sixth Form common room was buzzing with parents who were visiting stalls that were carefully selected to give a broad overview of the different pathways that are open to young people including apprenticeships, university, Sixth Form and volunteering.

The event was organised as part of the Improving Gender Balance project which aims to get students to think outside the box and be less  influenced by cultural stereotypes when making decisions about subject choice and  career paths

A similar careers event is scheduled to be held at the school on Thursday 12th March for parents and students.
